SEPILOK
Welcome to Sepilok
Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre opened in 1964 as the first official orangutan rehabilitation project for rescued orphaned baby orangutans from logging sites, plantations, illegal hunting or kept as pets. The orphaned orangutans are trained to survive again in the wild and are released as soon as they are ready. The sanctuary is located within the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve which covers an area of 4,294 ha (10,610 acres), much of which is virgin rainforest.
A visit to the world's most well known place to see orangutans in their regular living space just turned out to be considerably all the more convincing on account of the expansion of an open air nursery for adolescents in a similar complex, and the adjacent, phenomenal Sun Bear Conservation Center. On top of this current, there's a jazzy new eatery and bistro that is as of late opened.
Sepilok is perhaps Sabah’s best known spot to enjoy the nature of the city. It has become one of Sabah's tourist attractions and a lot of people visiting the place.
